"My Name is James Cole, and I have been a Park Ranger since 2023, and have volunteered since late 2022. I became a park ranger, because of my love of the natural world as well as a desire to protect and preserve the environment around me. To me being a park ranger means so much more than simply taking care of trails and protecting animals. It means interpreting what the world around us is like and how it functions, as well as sharing unique aspects of the environment with those around us, such as when I set up my Cavern Interpretation exhibit.
When visiting Florida caverns, one should know that the park has much more to offer than just cavern tours (although the cavern is personally my favorite place in the park). We have a lot of trails of varying lengths and scenery that are sure to delight any visitor. Our most popular trail, The Bluff Trail, allows one to traverse the limestone bluffs overlooking the Chipola River flood plain, as well as the unique opportunity to visit and explore the Tunnel cave located on the trail."
