I've been on a garland making kick lately. They fit so perfectly over Noah's play space that I can't help myself!

Next up is a Spring flower garland with these funky beauties. 🌸🌼 Should I add a third color? I can't decide!

Oh, hi!

I'm Kelly. πŸ‘‹ I am a wife and mama, a full-time marketing manager, and someone who finds a lot of joy in art. I love crafting, especially crochet, and also design crochet patterns when an idea hits.

You'll find that I share a lot more than crochet here. I am passionate about many things - particularly women's healthcare (I have stage 4 endometriosis) and ending gun violence (as a proud member of )

I got my first haircut in at least 2 years today and was feeling pretty, so I figured now would be a good time to say hi. πŸ₯°

Shout out to for the great cut and lovely time.

Now, more than ever, it's important to find joy in the things that light us up. And then share it!

I managed to hang this in the single spot where the light doesn't hit in our apartment πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ but this garland was such a fun make - I had to share it.

It started with me making some of my Full-of-Heart Shamrocks ☘️, and then Noah requested 4 leaf clovers insteadπŸ€. Needing something to break up the green, I decided on gold coins.

Spending time creating just to create was exactly the break I needed from the world yesterday. It was also a blast to collaborate with my kiddo. ❀️

Knitting and ignoring the laundry that needs to be put away = self care today

I feel like I always say this, but the past 2 weeks have been nuts! I was gone for most of last week and then got back just in time for Noah to have the stomach flu. Seth now has it and is laid up in bed. I, however, WILL NOT get it (manifesting). 🀞

I'd like to interrupt my regularly scheduled programming to tell you a story.

Last week, I refilled my Zoloft prescription. I have been taking Zoloft since I had Noah. I suffered from PPA in the year following his birth, and while that has subsided, I realized it made a big impact in my life. My mood, my ability to manage life, and my ability to see beyond the present when things are really hard. Stay with me here.

I have a collection of meds I take every day to manage endometriosis along with Zoloft for anxiety. I keep them all in a line on my desk so I can take them each morning. After refilling my Zoloft prescription, I forgot to put it in the lineup. I unknowingly stopped taking it for nearly a week.

I don't know how to best describe what happened, to be honest, but it wasn't pretty. The apex moment was sobbing in bed (very unusual for me), convinced that I was ruining Noah's childhood by not being physically able to do as much as I'd like to. Being in pain all day every day is so, so hard. It takes a lot of mental fortitude to make it through, and without my medication, I was crumbling. It felt so incredibly dark and hopeless.

The day after, I realized what had happened and took my meds in full. The sun came out. I was laughing and enjoying Noah's crazy antics, was able to focus during work, and found enjoyment in my hobbies again. NightπŸ‘and πŸ‘dayπŸ‘

All of that to say this - mental health medication is just as important as heart medication. It keeps people alive, and even better, it helps them be well. I am included in that group and will fight anyone who says it isn't necessary.

So come at me if you'd like, but don't come for my meds. I'd like to LIVE.

When in doubt, get the drill out?

After getting annoyed with switching skeins on every row of the cardigan I'm making, Seth drilled holes in a plastic bin for me so I can easily switch between colors and keep everything in one place. πŸ™Œ

I am flying to Atlanta next week - do you think this could count as my "personal item"? πŸ˜…

I'm putting my mental energy into projects to keep myself sane. Will report back if it works. 😬

This one is a pattern test for Eventually, it'll be a cozy cardigan! Each yarn colorway is its own ombre, so it's making some funky combos. I'm running with it, though. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

What's keeping you sane(ish)?

We made it to West Michigan and are finally starting to get settled.

Adventures so far have included:
⭐ Putting Noah through the window to unlock his bedroom door after it was locked and closed. πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ
⭐ Getting to know the maintenance team on a deep level because they've been here every day fixing things.
⭐ Many, many trips to the surrounding stores
⭐ Noah starting a new school
⭐ Being able to do laundry in our apartment (!!!)
⭐ Absolute chaos 99% of the time

We all love it here. It is so QUIET! It takes just 4 minutes to get to Noah's school, we are only 10 minutes from my Mom and much closer to the rest of my family.

We still have most of our boxes to unpack thanks to all the snafoos and straight up exhaustion, but I am so glad to be home.

I love this tree so much. Every year, it has been such a delight to drive and walk past. Fall is just the absolute best.

Some days you crochet in the bathroom while your kiddo washes his trucks in the bathtub. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

*The odd mosaic on the wall is courtesy of maintenance not painting over their spackle after fixing. I bought stick on tiles at Target envisioning making a cute box around it. The boys had other ideas πŸ˜‚

Noah wanted to do an experiment from his science kit this weekend, so we went on a hunt for white roses and put them in water with food coloring. How cute are they?

We tried to do a tri-color rose, but my stem splitting abilities leave much to be desired.

Thanks for the science kit ! It gets used a lot around here.
