We are looking for a Rigging Specialist -
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Rigger uses mechanical and power tools to install and connect motors and accessories on boats per Yamaha Factory specifications or as specified on work orders.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Supports a strong commitment to world class customer service and ensures a pleasant and productive shopping experience for all customers.
Rigs boat package per factory specifications.
Rigs boat package as specified on work orders.
Notifies Service Advisor when rigging of specified unit received from manufacturer is not acceptable, if unit has problems that need additional work, or when customer’s request may not be possible or may cause a safety issue.
Works in an efficient manner to maintain service schedules.
Prepares loose motors or trailers for delivery to customer.
Tests each unit for proper and safe operation using established marine service procedures.
Follows work order procedures for requesting and obtaining parts, performing labor and completing paperwork and when requesting parts or performing labor not listed on work order.
Properly completes rigging checklist and assist with inspection process for each unit.
Installs optional equipment and/or accessories as per customer’s request.
Maintains a clean and professional work area.
ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
High School education or equivalent experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:
Ability to deal with electrical systems and wiring when assembling engines and connecting all electrical/remote control attachments to a boat
Ability to communicate in a friendly and professional manner to our customers and other team members
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Management, coworkers and customers

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
Yamaha University in Georgia

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Able to lift up to 50 pounds
Able to stand for extended periods
Ability to work in adverse conditions

INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT:
Performs tasks and duties under general supervision, using established procedures and innovation. Chooses from limited alternatives to resolve problems. Occasional independent judgment is required to complete work assignments. Often makes recommendations to work procedures, policies, and practices.

My Father passed away Monday.
He was a Husband to Millicent Shahan. A brother to Nancy Philpott and her husband Michael.
A father to Troy, Michael, Melissa and William.
A father in-law to Sherry and Allison
He had 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Dad was raised in the small-town Edina Missouri by his parents Eva “Ruth” Shahan and William Delbert.
Like a lot of boys and men of his time he enjoyed tinkering and working on engines. He loved to drag and dirt race during his younger years. He was a strong supporter of the second amendment. For years you could find him and his friends at the local gun shows buying and selling hard to find guns.
He joined the United States Army in 1964. Shortly after he spent time in Vietnam where he was awarded the Bronze Star for Meritorious Achievement In Ground Operations Against Hostile Forces.
While in the Army he was also stationed in Korea, Germany(a few times) Fort Story Virginia Beach Virginia, Fort Hood Texas, and Fort Knox Kentucky, where he retired in 1984.
While Dad was stationed at Fort Story he met his future wife, Millicent in Virginia Beach. They later married in Wildflecken Germany on the 4th of July and Celebrated 50 yrs of marriage just this past year.
After retiring in 1984 he moved his family to Virginia Beach before settling in Norfolk 38 years ago. Went to work for HRUBS for very a short time. Then he worked for Cobb’s Marina before he started his own business Marine Automotive Services, tapping into his long love of everything with an engine. After a few years he brought in his son Michael and renamed the business to S&S Marine eventually transitioning out of engine work and into marine metal work. They’ve been in business together for over 33 years. He also had another business, S&S Marine Trailers selling boat trailers. He spent a lot of time on the road between Norfolk and Tampa. He knew every bump in the road between the two.
The family has decided to have a celebration of life on April 5th at the family business, S&S Marine. We will be making a formal announcement in the near future.
