Squad 1 was struck by a vehicle this morning blocking for a car fire. All fire department crew members are okay, the driver of the vehicle was medically evaluated.

This is why we have trucks blocking crews who are working in front of them. Drive safe.

Recently, Engine 6, Squad 1 and Medic 1 responded to a call for an unresponsive male. Before their arrival, initial life safety measures (CPR and Automated External Defibrillator application) were performed. When crews arrived on scene, the patient was immediately taken into their care. They continued CPR and successfully moved the patient into the back of the ambulance. On the way to the hospital, Paramedics, with the help of EMT’s, performed certain Advanced Life Safety practices that helped save the patients life. Scenarios like this show how important early CPR and AED application is in order to save a persons life, as well as, having well trained Paramedics and EMT’s in such practices.

Today, we would like to highlight our Local 944 members who were on the call:

Firefighter/Paramedic John Lanzante
Captain/Paramedic Eric Mohr
Lieutenant/EMT Jason Bocchetta
Firefighter/EMT James Connors
Firefighter/EMT Michael Adinolfi
Firefighter/EMT Cody Albert
