It been quite some time since an post was made on here so here are some product updates:

- The OEM replacement T50 sandwich plates are back in stock. These are 1.6mm thick zinc plated steel and are functionally the same as the factory part:

After a some delays, both variants of our 4A to J160 gearbox adapter kits are back in stock!

These kits are a direct bolt in solution and include everything needed; fasteners, sandwich plate and the custom thrust bearing carrier with thrust bearing pre-fitted.

Both kits are well proven and recommended products. The adapters are made out of 12mm thick steel plate for functionality and durability, anything thicker would push the gearbox too far back and cause the clutch spline to run off the input shaft. Steel was chosen as Aluminium would pose an unacceptably high risk of stripping the threads in the plate due to the limited thread engagement. These two factors are among the many different design aspects and features which were carefully chosen through our extensive design, test and revision process in order to provide the best possible solution on the market today!

Due to the supply and price issues with the genuine 3SGE Beams exhaust gaskets we now offer a heavy duty aftermarket alternative. These have a composite construction with dimpled steel / Armstrong style outer layers. The exhaust port openings have pressed steel firing rings for the highest resilience which are oversized to allow for those with enlarged exhaust ports. Lastly with a 1.8mm thickness these would have a higher tolerance for exhaust fl**ge variance / movement overall. Being custom made in a batch these are unique to SQ-Engineering and are currently available for purchase:

Up until now the only 3SGE BEAMS workshop manual available was a not only in a very low quality but was quite short and hence missing many pieces of technical information.

Some time ago on our end an official full length hard copy manual was sourced and imported from Japan. This has been carefully scanned and edited to have a high quality. It covers the entire engine mechanical work / specifications across 61 pages. Although in Japanese its diagrams and specifications are easy to follow and if required translation software can be used.

As of now it is available free for everyone to download and share from our website via the link below. I figure this is well overdue and it should make it easier for those working on their engines.

It's been quite some time since our last post on here and there have been various changes happen in that time. One of those is the website that has been updated to use completely new and improved software.

As for parts updates after being out of stock for longer than they should of been the 4AGE Exhaust side alternator mounts have had they design updated and are now finally back:

These have a 5mm step machined into the rear base to suit the OEM steel bracket on the rear wheel drive 4A engines (block to rubber mount). For others using a different arrangement a 5mm spacer is required which is available on request as an add on to the kit.

7A blocks don't have one of the block mounting points used by the tensioner arm base but if people want to make their own tensioner up we have the option of selling the main bracket by itself.

Lastly we are interested in anyone willing to share their own photos of the kit installed. If I like what's given and would like to use it on the website then a reward option is potentially there.

Both of our 4AGE / 7A to J160 gearbox adapter kits are finally complete. All that's left to do before they are made available for purchase is putting together the product listings on the website.
The AE86 to J160 mounts have also been completed however the engine crossmember spacers are still at least a week away from completion.
These adapter kits will be released for $480 AUD each for either of the J160 variations (Beams or 1GFE). There will also be a +$60 AUD optional extra on the J160-G kit to relocate the clutch slave cylinder for additional exhaust clearance.

Parts updates: Both of the 4A to J160 adapter plates are just about done. From here before the kits are complete there are still some smaller jobs that need to be finished such as some brackets and rods that need to be made, fastener packs put together, web pages made / updated, parts electro-plated and a few other odd jobs.
Pictured is the prototype AE86 to J160 gearbox crossmember, this was tested, it's design updated and a batch ordered. Originally a brace was going to be welded in but they were more than strong enough without one. These are due to be ready at the same time as the gearbox adapters and will be quite cheap.

Parts Update: There is some more progress on both variants of the 4AGE to J160 gearbox adapters. The main adapter plate designs have been finalised, checked and sent off for production. The custom thrust bearing carriers and spigot extensions were sent to the machinist previously and are already underway.
While those parts are being made the other components will be organised such as the sandwich plates, fasteners and so on.
I wish to say thanks to those who have been patiently waiting on these. There will be more updates on here as they unfold.
Pictured are both variants, on the top is to suit the J160 originally from behind a 1GFE engine and the other on the bottom is for the gearbox that would normally bolt to a Beams engine.

Pictured is the test fit of a J160 (1gfe) gearbox into an AE86 using our prototype 4A to J160 gearbox adapter plate and with one of our existing gear shifter relocation kits fitted.
The shifter is right where it should be and without a single modification to the car body! This is the final mounting position it will be held at with our gearbox mounting crossmembers that are in the works.
Progress is ongoing on the development of both the gearbox adapters kits and the matching crossmembers to suit.
In other product news there will soon be clutch friction disks for sale that are compatible with 212mm 4AGE flywheels and clutch pressure plates but have the spline to suit both the W5x and J160 gearboxes. This will make it easier for anyone who is undertaking a conversion.

Development Updates: 7A / 4AGE to J160-G 6-speed gearbox adapters.
Pictured is one of our new prototypes which has been under development for quite some time and suits the J160 - type-G gearboxes as originally fitted behind 1GFE engines. This will be used for testing and documentation before a batch is given the go ahead for production.
Our previous model adapter kits that suited the J160-S gearbox from the 3sge beams sold out a while ago but has not been forgotten either. This too is planned to be given a re-release after a basic update to the design has been made.
A compatible AE86 to J160 gearbox crossmember may also be developed during the testing period and made available at a later date.

We have said before that our drop in 20V 4age Blacktop velocity stacks are one of the best bang for buck upgrades available when using the original air-box / plenum. We now have further proof as seen, this was done back to back going from the OEM fitted velocity stacks and then to our drop in option without a re-tune between them.
As the chart shows there were some nice gains across most of the rev range, particularly in the top end. These are quick and easy to install, bolt right into place with no custom modifications and are available for purchase here:

Product development updates: Progress is ongoing with our 4A to J160-G adapter plates. We had a big delay due to the backlog of machining work however the two prototype adapters have now been outsourced to a different local workshop to speed things up.
On top of that although it wasn't originally planned it now looks like we will be doing an update to the original 4A to J160-S adapters and re-releasing them, likely at the same time.
So thanks for the patience of those who are waiting for these, hopefully we will have an update soon on them.
