The long-awaited return of the Melbourne Motor Show roared back to life on April 5–6, 2025, with more than 30,000 auto enthusiasts flooding the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) for a sold-out Saturday that marked the comeback of a true automotive icon. But amongst the sea of supercars and concept EVs, one booth in particular stood out: UniClutch

Front and center at the UniClutch booth was a showstopper in every sense, the legendary "Eleanor" from Gone in 60 Seconds, a 1967 GT500 Fastback Ford Mustang, complete with the iconic "Go Baby Go" button. Eleanor drew a crowd all weekend, especially given her surprising position directly opposite the Tesla Cybertruck, ⚡ bridging the gap between muscle car nostalgia and electric futurism.

But UniClutch wasn’t just about flexing horsepower heritage. The booth also showcased a Toyota Supra, demonstrating UniClutch’s versatility across high-performance platforms. Visitors could interact with the brand beyond the metal too, spinning a prize wheel that dished out everything from branded beanies, caps, stickers, desk mats, air fresheners, and pens, to fuel vouchers supplied by Jasbe ⛽

Among the many familiar faces at the show was Elise Elliott, celebrated media personality, rev head and close friend of UniClutch. Elise not only hosted the Motor Show, but proudly installed a UniClutch Track in Eleanor herself; a build fans can watch on our YouTube channel. 📺https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wyawVBiT6PE

The 2025 event was no small affair… 23 manufacturers and 87 aftermarket exhibitors packed the MCEC, with nine global car debuts. With immersive experiences for kids, food, entertainment, and plenty of burning rubber and innovation to go around, the Melbourne Motor Show was more than just an expo, it was a celebration of automotive culture.

Who else was at the event?

Toyota has stunned the automotive world with the GR Supra A90 Final Edition, priced at an eye-watering $155,600 USD. This makes it nearly twice the cost of a standard six-cylinder Supra and even $15k more expensive than a base Porsche 911 Carrera.

With only 300 units available worldwide, split between Europe and Japan, this exclusive model marks the end of the A90 Supra generation in dramatic fashion.

To justify its steep price, the Final Edition comes with significant performance enhancements. Under the hood, the BMW-sourced 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six has been tuned to 429 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque—a 94-horsepower increase over the standard model. The car is offered exclusively with a six-speed manual transmission, reinforcing its purist appeal.

Track-focused modifications include:
✅ Adjustable KW suspension from the Supra GT4 race car
✅ Larger Brembo brakes for enhanced stopping power
✅ Akrapovič titanium exhaust for reduced weight and improved sound
✅ Aerodynamic upgrades, including a carbon fiber swan-neck rear wing

The Final Edition is available solely in matte black, ensuring a bold presence on the road. Buyers can choose between 19-inch or 20-inch wheels, adding to its aggressive stance. Inside, the cockpit is designed for performance and exclusivity, featuring:
✅ Recaro bucket seats with carbon fiber seatbacks
✅ Red Alcantara upholstery for the driver’s seat, contrasted by a black passenger seat

While the GR Supra A90 Final Edition boasts impressive performance and exclusivity, its hefty price tag raises eyebrows. Enthusiasts will appreciate its track-ready upgrades, but critics argue that at this cost, buyers might be tempted by more prestigious sports cars from established luxury brands.

Is Toyota’s farewell to the A90 Supra worth the price?

Nissan R35 GT-R Bows Out After Nearly Two Decades

The iconic R35-generation Nissan GT-R has officially retired after a remarkable 20-year production run. Nissan announced on its Japanese website that it has stopped taking orders for the coupe, marking the end of an era for the legendary "Godzilla."

“We have received many orders for the Nissan GT-R, and we have now finished accepting orders for the planned production quantity. We sincerely thank our customers for their support since its release in 2007,” Nissan stated.

Japan was among the last markets where buyers could still purchase a new GT-R, with U.S. production ceasing in October 2024. The model was discontinued in Europe and the U.K. back in 2022 due to noise regulations.

The R35's journey began in 2000 under then-CEO Carlos Ghosn, with early concept versions leading up to its global debut at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show. It hit U.S. shores for the 2009 model year, offering a then-unbeatable combination of performance and price: a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 with 480 hp and a starting price of around $78,000.

Over the years, the GT-R evolved through multiple updates, culminating in a 565-hp version with a much steeper price tag—$123,985 for the base model and $222,895 for the Nismo edition.

As for the future, Nissan has yet to reveal a direct successor. While the company values the GT-R’s heritage, financial challenges and shifting priorities may delay any potential follow-up. For now, enthusiasts will have to wait and see if "Godzilla" rises again.

Do you think we’ll see the return of "Godzilla"?
